Sophie Minter

Qualified with Honours from the prestigious London School of Sports Massage in 1998 and established Minter • Sports • Massage in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire that same year. Since then the business has flourished and now has a loyal client base from the East Herts., West Essex, North London environs. The core values of the business are Balance, Integrity and Teamwork.

  • Having a BA (Hons.) Degree in Physical Education, Sophie has a structured knowledge base in Anatomy, Biomechanics, Training principles and Sports Psychology and this underpins much of her applied work as a Sports Massage and Soft Tissue practitioner.
  • In Oct 2014 Sophie was awarded an MSc in Sport and Exercise Science (Sports Psychology) from Middlesex University.
  • Since 2000 she has been a Tutor and Lecturer at the London School of Sports Massage in a range of subject areas including Anatomy fundamentals, Professional Ethics, Business Planning and various practical techniques.
  • She embraces Continuing Professional Development. Most recently studying for an ILM Coaching/Mentoring Level 5 qualification.
  • She holds professional membership of both the Sports Massage Association and the Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage.

Sophie balances her work thoughtfully between the Hertfordshire sports massage/soft tissue clinic; lecturing and coaching work and her involvement with elite sport. Between 1999 and 2006 she was highly involved with professional squash. She worked with England Squash at the 2001 World Championships in Melbourne and consequently in a broader role at the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games. At the 2004 Athens Olympic Games she provided sports massage for competitors in the Athletes Village. Following involvement in eight of  the London Prepares series of Test Events, Sophie  then worked in the Medical Polyclinic in the Athletes Village at the London 2012 Olympic Games.

Since 2013, an increasing involvement with athlete welfare psychology and performance coaching has included experience at Saracens RFC and Tottenham Hotspur FC.

A keen sportswoman herself, Sophie understands the physical demands of hard training, the importance of teamwork and the strength of the competitive urge. As a highly committed member of Broxbourne Hockey Club Ladies 1st XI she played at Divisional standard for many years and now runs competitively in 10kms, HMs and XC races. For both personal and professional development, Sophie practices Pilates and advocates its principles for balance, flexibility and strength.
